(Prof. :Dept. of Electrical and Electronic Eng.)

The 21st Century COE (Center of Excellence) program started in 2002 to establish discipline-specific centers of research and education as the world's apex of excellence within graduate schools of Japanese University. One of 10 categories of the COE fields is electronics and information science. In this field, only 20 projects were selected in Japan. One of the 20 projects is our COE program, which is "Intelligent Human Sensing". Object of this program is to build up 'Intelligent human sensing system' which consists of the three fields; (1) Smart micro chips which are multi-modal and wearable sensors with signal processing IC, (2) Sensing information processing system realized with a compact device to control, process and storage of huge sensing information data, and (3) Intelligent media which can produce important information to be understandable to human.
